Udhar, developed by Deep Dharia, stores names, financial amounts, dates and notes in local WebView/browser storage. No account is required. We do not send your ledger to a developer database. The Android release disables automatic cloud backup and requests exclusion from device transfer; device behaviour can vary. Keep a manual backup.
The Android app has Internet access but requests no dangerous runtime permissions. There are no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs in this release. Hosting providers receive ordinary web requests when you open the website or a shared ledger, such as IP addresses and request metadata; the ledger is encoded in the URL fragment, which is not sent in the HTTP request.
Android export displays JSON for you to copy; web export downloads a JSON file. Backups are unencrypted. Clipboard apps, cloud notes, email or other services you choose may access the data you paste or upload. Protect backups and delete unwanted copies yourself.
WhatsApp nudges contain ledger information in a message you choose to send. Ledger links encode names, amounts, dates and notes in an unencrypted URL fragment. Anyone with the complete link can read, copy and forward it. Links have no expiry or revocation and contain a snapshot, not live updates. Share another person's information only with their permission. The recipient's browser reads the fragment locally; delivery services may process the full link you send.
Your ledger remains on your device until you delete entries, use Settings → Erase everything, clear app/browser storage, or uninstall the app. Copies in backups, clipboard history and shared links are separate and are not removed by wiping the app. Ask recipients to delete their copies. We have no account or central ledger database to delete.
Udhar is a finance utility not directed at children under 13. Updates to this policy will appear here with a revised date.
